“MARKETING STATUS ”
The burning problem in Organic Farming Sector is marketing rather than production. The real challenge of today is establishing a fair trade and ensuring remunerative price to the farmer. We have evolved a clear cut marketing strategy and have already been marketing the organic produce successfully. Viswa Krishi Vikas, one of our NGO Network, had introduced organic produce marketing at Erragadda Rythu Bazar, at Defence Quarters and they are also the first people to market organic vegetables on Mobile Van in twin cities. It is noteworthy that one more Tirupathi based NGO from our Network, viz., WORD, facilitated marketing of organic vegetables and food grains at Rythu Bazar, Tirupathi. At both these places our small and marginal scale farmers are able to get premium prize for the produce. We are establishing our own market outlets and wish to target the mediocre so that in the long run it will be stabilized market. Direct market would give our farmers more prices. It is also proposed to export the produce duly certified, value added. For this we tied up with one of importing and exporting company, viz., M/s Krishi Prana Imports and Exports Private Limited.
Some of our progressive farmers are willing to go for certification of their produce. We have taken up with the certification agencies and training programme on ICS is being organized in the last week of December, 2007. About 40 members from GREEN KRISHI are selected for this training.
We have been associating with several organizations from within the state and out of the state for knowledge sharing through documentation and dissemination in the relevant circles. We look forward to actively associating with AP Government programmes. Our counter parts, Karnataka and Kerala NGO network has been receiving good support from their respective Agricultural Departments. As we have been doing considerable this would certainly strengthen the movement.
